MASAKAN DAUN UBI

Hai..,semua... Hari ini kami ingin berkongsi sedikit tentang makanan yang agak popular dalam kalangan  orang ulu di Malaysia.., terutamanya di Sarawak. Seperti yang dapat dilihat, gambar di atas ialah masakan daun ubi. Masakan daun ubi ini boleh dikolaborasikan dengan kreativiti individu sendiri. Ianya bergantung dengan individu tersebut untuk memasaknya.. Daun ubi ini kebanyakannya boleh dimasak tumis atau dibuat ulam-ulaman.Cara masakannya juga mudah..,seperti kita masak sayur-sayuran biasa saja...  Kita juga boleh membuat berbagai variasi dengan membuat sup daun ubi, dengan menambah lauk2 yang lain seperti udang, ayam, ikan bilis dan sebagainya. 

Nampaknya, sampai di sini sahajalah untuk hari ini.. Semoga anda dapat mencuba masakan daun ubi ini...

Tebaloi..! hmm, i guess it is somtink yg sudah  tdk  asing lg dlm kalangan kalangan pnduduk tmpatan..tebaloi adlah mkanan ringan org melanau..mcm sdah mjadi kbiasaan, tebaloi ini mjadi sntapan terutamanya apabila minum ptang or berambeh kata org...:) juz sy nak bgtau, tebaloi mmg sdap..even sy slalu makan dari kecik pun, hmm..,x pernah jemu..hihi..

rasanya, skarang tak ssah nak cari tebaloi..coz time sy pergi ke satu kilang d mukah dulu, sy tgk ia mmg siap dbgkus n dmasukkan dlm kotak untuk dhantar ke kdai2 dan tmpat lain..sy tgk ia sdah pun dpasarkan d mana2 sahaja..kilang2 mbuat tebaloi, tdpat di Mukah.

utk pngetahuan umum, tebaloi diperbuat daripada tepung dan lemantak kelapa sebagai bahan utama..

Bahan-bahan:
2biji telur
700 gm tepung sagu
1 kilo kelapa parut (yg dibuang kulit ari)
500 gm gula
40 gm tepung kunyit (pewarna)

Pukul telur dan gula hingga kembang dan hancur. Masukkan nyiur, tepung sagu, tepung kunyit dan gaul rata dan sebati. Canai adunan diatas daun pisang nipis.
Bakar kali pertama:
bakar selama 4 - 5 minit dengan suhu 350 celcius (separuh masak) 
keluarkan dan potong ikut saiz yg digemari.
Bakar kali kedua:
bakar selama 15 minit dengan suhu 180 celcius (kalau belum 15 min dah masak, keluarkan saja dr oven)

                          Melanau Foods

Melanaus had a variety of traditional foods. But the famous food which all the Melanaus like it, which is traditional Umai  (Melanau Sashimi).The umai is made by the raw fish.  Mostly the fisherman use the red fish to make umai as it taste sweet.

            

                         ORANG ULU

THE LONGHOUSE

The orang ulu are made up of a few tribes namely the Kenyah, Kayan, Klemantan, Kelabit, the Lun Bawang, Penan as well as a few minor tribes in the interior. Orang Ulu, means the "up-river dwellers" mainly living in Central Borneo, which accounts for 5.5% of the population. The Penan, Kayan and Kenyah, live in the middle and upper reaches of and the Kelabit and Lun Bawang live in the highlands. 

The Kayans live in the main territories in central Borneo. They are warlike, conservative and religious people. The Kayan are considered more skilled in handicraft then all other peoples and believed by early anthropologists to be the original people in Sarawak who adorned their bodies with tattoos. The Kenyahs are found mainly in the highlands a little north of the centre of Borneo . As recorded in The Pagan Tribes of Borneo,'Physically they are without question the finest people of the country. Their skin-colour is decidedly fairer than that of Sea Dayaks or Kayans. They are of medium stature, with long backs and short, muscular, well-rounded limbs; a little stumpy in build, but of graceful and vigorous bearing. They are perhaps the most courageous and intelligent of the peoples; hospitable and somewhat improvident, sociable and of pleasant manners.' 

TATTOO

The most elaborate body tattoos are from the Kayan tribe. 'The dog design figures very prominently in Kayan art, and the fact that the dog is regarded by these people and also by the Kenyahs with a certain degree of veneration may account for its general representation. The design has been copied by a whole host of tribes, with degradation and change of name'Charles Hose,Pagan Tribes of Borneo. 

WEAPON AND TOOLS

The weapons of war used by the orang ulu especially the Kayan and Kenyah are generally the wooden shield, the sword and the spear. The prized weapons are often decorated with human hair from the rewards of warfare. They accentuate the beauty of their weapons with designs which they also lend to designs in tattoo, beadwork, as murals to adorn the house walls, tombs, boats and Padi barns, woodwork and musical intruments. One of the musical instrument much regarded in the Rainforest festival is the Sape.

The Kayans are also the best ironsmiths amongst all the peoples of Borneo . In the olden days, the iron ore were collected from riverbeds but later bars were procured from Malay and Chinese traders. 

                                    Something About Melanau

The Melanau are a people who live on the island of Borneo, primarily in Sarawak, Malaysia, but also in Kalimantan Indonesia. 
                     

The Melanau are considered among the earliest settlers in Sarawak. The name Melanau was not used by the Melanau to refer to themselves until recently. They call themselves a-likou meaning ‘people of the river’. 

The Melanaus can be divided into six different groups which are: Melanau Mukah, Melanau Dalat, Melanau Oya, Melanau Matu-Daro Melanau [Belawai-Rajang-Jerijih], Melanau Ba’ie (Bintulu),Melanau Balingian and Melanau Miri. Each group has its own characteristic dialect but they share the same cultural and lingual background (except for Melanau Bintulu dialect which can hardly be understood by the rest. 

The Melanau languages have been divided in the following eleven: Mukah, Balingian, Oya, Dalat, Daro-Matu, Rajang, Kanowit, Sibu, Bintulu, Seru and Tanjong.

CULTURES AND ECONOMY

The Melanau were traditionally fishermen as well as padi and sago farmers. Some were skilled boat builders. They used to live in tall stilted and long houses, but today  they live in kampung, in separated houses in a village communit style.

All the Melanaus have a ‘Bin’ (son of) and ‘Binti’ (daughter of) in their names similar to the Malays and it is also likely that the Christian Melanaus too were designated as Malays in the census.

Religion

While originally animists, the majority of the Melanaus are now Muslim, although some of them, especially among the Melanau Mukah, Rajang and Dalat are Christian. However, many still celebrate traditional rites such as the annual Kaul Festival.

Despite their different beliefs and religions, the Melanaus, like the rest of East Malaysians (Sabah and Sarawak) are very tolerant of each other and they rightly feel proud of their tolerance. We would still come across a Melanau family with different child family members embracing Christianity and Islam while their parents still have strong animist belief.

• An integrated pattern of human knowledge, belief, and behaviour.
• The outlook, attitudes, values, goals, and customs shared by a society
